Since 2014, we have worked in 12 countries and supported regional integration in East and West Africa. We do this work in partnership with our funder, the US government’s Power Africa initiative.
TBI is partnering with Power Africa to help African government leaders plan and deliver increased access to power as part of the Senior Advisors Group programme.
Power Africa and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change are collaborating to increase women’s participation in Africa’s energy sector, an essential element of policy change and climate action. Women are critical in the fight against climate change. They bring unique perspectives to drive bold climate action. Governments must act now to ensure that women are given equal access to the climate-action driving seats, as that is a necessary condition of success for a just energy transition. Jointly written by TBI’s Delphine Hennegrave, Energy Access and Gender Lead, Sarah Samuel, Communications Advisor and Power Africa’s gender team, this article discusses several types of interventions that can ease women’s paths into the energy industry.
